A most unusual house converted
from an old ruined convent into a
18-bedroom family-run hotel.Today it
is an eccentric mix of the fashionable
and the bohemian, from the clientele
to the atmosphere of the place, which
is more like a private house than a
hotel. Guests can mingle or not as
they wish, dine with other guests or
dine alone in some quiet corner of
the garden. There is a very informal
ambiance at Trasierra; there are no
telephones, televisions or minibars.
Breakfast is set out until noon and
guests come in their robes and help
themselves. They stay and chat with
other guests or take a tray to their
own patio or to the pool. Yoga and
massage are available. There is no
dress code; one can dress at any
level from casual to smart. Charlotte's
attractive children help in the running
of the house and her daughter
Gioconda, who trained in Italy, is
the fabulous chef. The house lies
one hour from Seville and two hours
northwest of Córdoba. There is a small
shop selling local delicacies including
George Scott´s exquisite pata negra
jamon, olive oil and marmalade, as
well as honey from the estate. |
