     A fascinating 18th-century palace in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter has been imaginatively transformed into a modern and stylish hotel. The four-star Neri H&R is located in the square of Sant Felip Neri, between the Cathedral of Barcelona and the Ramblas. This is an area of narrow medieval streets where doors open into excellent restaurants, trendy boutiques and art galleries. In the restaurant, the chef blends exotic spices into his aromatic southern Mediterranean cuisine. The rough stone walls of the original house create a marvelous backdrop for the modern, fresh style of the lobby, restaurant and rooms. Bathrooms are bright and spacious, and there are connecting rooms for families. A superb feature of the Neri H&R is the roof garden, which offers a quiet and sunny place to take breakfast or have a drink. There are sun beds and showers for guests who want to take a break from sightseeing and shopping.
