| The Hotel du Vin in Edinburgh is in the city's Old Town, just a short walk from the historic Royal Mile, St. Giles Cathedral, the Palace of Holyrood and Edinburgh Castle. The oldest part of the building dates from 1698 and once served as the city asylum. Many of the bedrooms feature the original stone, with high ceilings and exposed brick and rafters. There is a mezzanine bar, and the fun and busy bistro serves classic European cuisine. There is a beautiful courtyard for outdoor dining, a cigar shack (necessarily away from the hotel and restaurant), a whisky snug with over 200 whiskies and a impressive wine tasting room with an extensive wine list. The hotel is part of the hugely successful Hotel du Vin/Malmaison group of hotels. |
