Tim and Kit Kemp, owners of Firmdale Hotels, have designed their latest hotel in London, Ham Yard, with a distinctly “urban village” feel. Situated between the sophistication of Mayfair and the edgy buzz of Soho, the hotel has turned a previously deserted ¾-acre site into a tree-filled garden and square. It is like a village green where guests can dine and drink and watch the world go by. There are 91 individually designed bedrooms and suites and 24 apartments, 13 shops and an airy restaurant and bar. There is a drawing room and library, a Soholistic spa and gym, a 190-seat theater, private meeting rooms and a 1950s bowling alley from Texas. The hotel’s exclusive Roof Terrace provides stunning views over the Soho rooftops. All the interiors reflect Kit Kemp’s award-winning luxurious, modern British style, and the area now provides a space for local residents, office workers and hotel guests to mingle and enjoy the specialty stores, visit the theater, eat, drink and entertain in style. Breakfast can be served in the roof garden (subject to weather), which is only available to guests of the hotel. The Ham Yard Hotel also has connecting rooms and large suites.
One Denman Place (Ham Yard Apartments). Kit Kemp’s stunning apartments adjacent to Ham Yard Hotel are available for long rentals from 90 days. Shorter lets are sometimes available on request. There are one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments that are very spacious and all have state-of-the-art kitchens and bathrooms. Many have terraces and views across London.
